Children's Learning Styles

Many parents have encountered frustration and disappointment when their child encounters difficulty in their studies.  When they note that their child seems to be behind other children in the school, they either push their child to achieve more or they fall into a state of disappointment.  Either reaction may have long lasting negative effects on the child’s psychology.

Different people have different needs, different ways of perceiving thoughts and ideas.  Countless studies over the past decades have shown that each individual is unique and that we each have our own ways of processing information.  This is the reason behind the fact that some children are quick to pick up on things while others seem to lag behind.

With individuality and personal differences in sight, many psychologists have attempted to identify different the learning styles of people.  In the course of their studies, they have come up with many different learning style models.  As with many other issues, numerous theories and models have been presented to the general public.  Even today, there are some conflicting theories and models explaining the different learning styles of children.  However, one widely accepted model has present four major learning styles which could explain your child’s scholastic performance and behavior.
